You Can Make Excuses or You Can Find Reasons

When you’re an entrepreneur, you will come across many obstacles. Next time you’re in a tough situation, simply ask yourself, is this an excuse to stop or go forward? Our goal is to create awareness for our fellow entrepreneurs that there are two defying moments in your journey that will cause you to take action. It will either be an uncontrollable life circumstance or an unexpected opportunity that propels you to your goal faster. Which one will it be for you?

3 Reasons why entrepreneurs wait around for something to happen before they take action towards their purpose.

  • Not knowing what they are good at
  • Not knowing their WHY
  • Not believing they can achieve their goals

Not Knowing What They Are Good At

Everybody knows that one thing that they’re good at, but it takes a specific opportunity or life event for them to really be able to vocalize it and share it with other people. When you actually believe in it, and that’s what changes everything. That’s why it’s good to know yourself and why self-awareness is so crucial.

To figure out what you’re good at, you have to be willing to try different opportunities and be prepared to fail. If entrepreneurs are eager to accept that they might fail, but in that journey of failing, you’re going to figure out what fuels you. Another way to find what you’re good at is to make a list of 25 things that make you happy and connect the things on that list to different industries.

Not Knowing Their Why

Many of us always felt like this between the ages of 17 and 21, when we were just trying to find ourselves in the world. We like to call it the lost in the sauce years. Where we want to be great, but we just don’t know how to use our talents. We have to go through different experiences where felt unmotivated or unsure for us to realize that we get a bigger WHY.

When trying to figure out  WHY it’s essential to know who you are doing it for. It could be your parents, grandparents, or your children. Your WHY is also going to keep you grounded when things aren’t going as planned and pull you forward. Keep in mind that your WHY is going to be the foundation, and once you find that foundation, you’re going to continue building on it, making things a lot easier.

Figure out what’s missing in the world and the way you see it and be that person. Create your own lane.

Not Believing They Can Achieve Their Goals

This is a problem that many people don’t voice and share publicly because we all want to have confidence in ourselves. We tend to make excuses for why you can’t do what we want to do. It’s essential to use the dictation that we use. Our brain has a way of processing certain information and phrases. The words we choose to determine how we look at each situation. Instead of saying, “I don’t think I can do it.” Rephrase it to “I haven’t figured it out yet.”

I don’t think I can do it means just that you can’t do it. You’re not trying anymore. I haven’t figured it out yet implies that you’re still working to that end goal. Words can trigger us to get moving or not to proceed.

Anything is attainable with enough work ethic and enough determination to become good at something. You don’t think you could do it because you’re not good at it, but you haven’t tried.

To find what you are good at making a chart with three columns. In the first column,  what comes naturally to you. In the second column, what do people love about me? In the last column, what interests do you have? As you write certain things down, you’re going to start to see opportunities for yourself.

Don’t be that person who has potential.

Erase the idea out of your head and be that person who sets an example for people and the change you want to see in the world—realizing that having a WHY can be one of the most important things besides finding your gifts. The WHY is what’s going to keep you anchored and keep you stable. When everything is going wrong, have the confidence in yourself that you can get it done. Don’t worry about how long it takes to find your purpose, because once you find it, you will move with intention. Once you have the intention, you will discover more opportunities.
